Gaza's Silent Threat | Fighting disease during war | UNICEF
Humanitarian workers Dr. Younis R. Awadallah and Fairuz Abuwarda, together with their teams, UNICEF and partners, embark on the mission of a lifetime - vaccinating 600,000 children against polio in Gaza during a war. This extraordinary effort unfolds in 2024 as they risk their lives amid repeated security threats, logistical obstacles and with limited access to health services and infrastructure. The documentary is a testament not only to the impact of war on children but also to the resilience of humanitarians serving their needs on the front lines too often risking their lives to save and protect the lives of children. It also serves as a powerful illustration of how safe humanitarian access is essential to ensuring life-saving supplies and services can reach children and families. As the situation for children worsens in Gaza in 2025 and safe humanitarian access becomes even more limited, we must demand action to protect humanitarian workers and their vital work to save children's lives and protect their rights.
